Call For Free Papers, Award Papers and Poster Presentations

Team PEDICON DAKSHIN-2024 is pleased to invite the submission of research papers for competition in 3 categories . The first author (for Post Graduate/Medical College Faculty/Practicing Pediatrician and Thesis submitters) should be either a member of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and should have registered for PEDICON DAKSHIN-2024.

General Guidelines for Paper & Poster Presentations :

• Entry is restricted to IAP members (Life /Associate life).
• There will be four categories of presentations. PG Student, Medical College Faculty, Practicing Pediatrician, Undergraduate student (Only Poster Presentations)
• All entries should be submitted before 6pm on 10th October 2024
• PG Students should attach their HOD's certificate along with a certificate stating that it is original research done by the student.
• Medical College Faculty should submit an undertaking in their letterhead, certifying it is original work done by the same person.
• Practicing Pediatricians should submit an undertaking in their letterhead, certifying it is their original work.
• Undergraduate Students should attach the certificate from the HOD of the Department of Pediatrics of the concerned institution along with a certificate stating that it is original research done by the student under the supervision of a Pediatric Faculty and mention the name and IAP membership number of the supervising Faculty.
• Copy of ethics committee approval is desirable with all manuscripts.
• Conference registration is mandatory except for Undergraduate Category.
• The supervising faculty for the UG paper should be a member (life/ordinary) of the IAP.
• Please send your IAP number and conference registration number along with the application.
• Doctors who have recently applied for membership, kindly send the copy of DD/Cheque and the membership number is to be mailed to the scientific committee as soon as it is available.
• Manuscripts should be sent in the E-format (Except for Dr. Omana Mathew Award).
• The research paper should not have been published in any form in any journal so far.
• Consent from the parents/guardian should be obtained wherever applicable and adequate privacy and confidentiality of the patients should be maintained at all times while preparing the paper.
• All papers will be evaluated by the scientific committee for eligibility for presentation.
• Among the selected manuscripts, the first ten in each category will be selected for oral presentation. The others will be included among poster presentations.
• Oral presentation: Each presenter will get 6 minutes for presentation and 2minutes for discussion.
• The decision of the scientific committee will be final.
The details of date, time, venue etc. will be intimated to selected presenters

AWARD PAPER

GENERAL GUIDELINES

• The award for which the paper is submitted should be clearly mentioned at the time of submission.
• Maximum of four authors are allowed per paper. No Name should be mentioned in the abstract document. But the names of authors and the presenters name should be clearly mentioned in the email sent.
• The abstract should not exceed 350 words and should have structured subheadings of (1) Background (2) Objectives (3) Methods (4) Results (5) Conclusion along with the full paper and a scanned Ethics Committee Clearance certificate (desirable, not mandatory) and should be sent on or before 10th October 2024



Dr. Omana Mathew award




Instituted by IAP Kollam Branch for the best P.G. Thesis of Postgraduates (MD/DNB) studying in Kerala State. Those who have completed their examination in the current year only are eligible. Award carries citation and a cash prize of Rs 3000/-.Completed thesis in PDF format is to be uploaded.




Vishnu Nambisan Memorial Award

Instituted by Dr. T.M, Anandakesavan, Past President, IAP Kerala and past National Vice President, for the Best Oral Paper by Postgraduates studying in Kerala State (MD/DCH/DNB). The award carries a cash prize of Rs.3000/- and a memento. The abstract as well as the full paper should be Submitted on or before 10th October 2024



Rajaram Memorial Award for Social Pediatrics (Free Paper)



Instituted by Dr. S. Sushama Bai, Past President, IAP Kerala Objective of the award: - To inculcate interest among young pediatricians to study the vast problems of children of Kerala at the community level.



Eligibility:

a) Postgraduates (should have done the study after 2020. Also the study should be done in Kerala studying in any medical college of Kerala State (MD, DCH, DNB)

b) Medical College Faculty and Pediatricians Practicing in Kerala (Government/Private) considered if there are no eligible papers from postgraduates.

c) The paper should be based on study of problems in children outside hospital (eg.Schools or Institutions for normal or disabled children, orphanages, slum areas, street children, juvenile homes, child from remote areas, migrating people, NRI, National Program at community level or Anganwadi etc.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs.2500/- and citation. The abstract as well as the full paper should be Submitted on or before 10th October 2024




Manampurath Oommen John Memorial award




Instituted by Dr. Shaji Thomas John, Past President, IAP Kerala for the best publication in a peer reviewed National/International Journal published between 1st August 2023 to 31st July 2024 by a member of IAP Kerala State who is working or residing in Kerala State at least for a period of three years consecutively prior to the application for the award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 6,000/- and a memento.
The publication should reach Dr. Shaji Thomas John before 10th October 2024.

E-POSTER PRESENTATION




Poster Guidelines The discussant (the presenter) of the poster will have to be near the poster during the poster session to discuss the points raised by the judges during their visit (the time of visit will be announced during the conference E-POSTER SPECIFICATIONS

1.GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS :



• The e poster will be displayed on standard 42" (Diagonal) LCD
• File format should be PowerPoint (ppt/.pptx)
• Total size of the presentation should not exceed 10 MB
• Maximum number of slides per poster - 3 (Three)
• All slides should be in landscape format
• Animation/movies/sounds will not be supported: please submit in a static ppt format only
• Last date for submission: 10th October 2024



2.DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS:




The e-poster needs to be created as follows :

• Each slide title should be placed in a title placeholder
• The text should include (most likely as separate elements of the poster) Introduction, Aim, Methods, Results, Conclusion and References.
• The poster should be self-explanatory. Text should be brief and well organized
• It is suggested that font size of the text should be at least 28 points. The type chosen should a simple and clear one (e.g. Helvetica)



3.COLOR SUGGESTIONS :



• When using light backgrounds (white, yellow, light blue) we suggest using dark fonts (black, navy blue, dark green)
• When using dark backgrounds (blue, purple) we suggest using light fonts (white, yellow, cyan)
• Avoid using red or green in any fonts or backgrounds as they are colours that are difficult to read
• illustrations/images/ photographs used in the e-poster should be enlarged enough to show relevant details
