Dear colleagues and friends,

It is a great pleasure and honour to extend a warm invitation to you all to attend the XXVIII National conference of Indian Association of Oral& Maxillofacial Pathologists, 2019. It is for the second time since the inception of IAOMP that the conference will be set in Gods Own Country Kerala. XXVIII National Conference will be held from 1st -3rd November, 2019 at Kovalam, Thiruvanathapuram Located on the western coast of peninsular India, Kerala is one of the prominent tourist destinations of India, with backwaters, hill stations, beaches, ayurvedic tourism and tropical greenery as its major attractions. National Geographic's Traveller Magazine named Kerala as one of the "ten paradises of the world" and "50 must see destinations of a life time". Aromatic and flavorsome are two words which are highly pertinent to Kerala, as the place is the leading producer and exporter of spices in the world. Thiruvanathapuram literally means "City of Lord Anantha" in Malayalam. The name derives from the god of the Hindu temple, Padmanabhaswamy Temple which is one of the richest temples in the world is right in the center of the city. Kovalam and Varkala are popular beach towns located near the city

We are focusing on oral cancer with the theme、INDIA CANCER"-Scientific summit on Oral Cancer. Oral cancer projects and awareness programmes in Kerala is incomplete without mentioning the pioneering works in the field by the legendary Dr Jacob Zacchariah. The first overseas research collaboration in the field of oral cancer in India was initiated in the department of Oral Pathology& Microbiology, Govt.Dental College, Trivandrum in 1965 with the assistance of Denmark government and under the supervision of late Dr. Jens J Pindborg acclaimed as the Indo-Danish oral cancer project. Dr.Jacob Zacchariah, a man of great insight and futuristic vision was instrumental in establishing a Regional Cancer Centre at Trivandrum. He was also a pioneer in the field of Forensic Odontology in India. The monumental works in the field of both oral cancer and forensic odontology by Dr. Jacob Zacchariah is a guiding light which shines from above.

As a build up to the XXVIII IAOMP National Conference 2019, oral cancer screening programs and awareness campaigns have been planned over a period of one year. These activities organized under the aegis of our esteemed association, are planned with a nationwide outreach. In addition to a plethora of scientific events, enriched with eminent national and international speakers, the conference promises a cultural treat giving an exhilarating feel of God's Own Country All that we need is your wholehearted participation in large numbers, to experience one of the most beautiful and picturesque locations.
